Amy Marsing, 42, of Rio Rancho, was arrested aggravated battery that caused great bodily harm on June 27.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sandoval County Magistrate Court in Bernalillo, officers responded to a report of a man walking around with a knife sticking out of his back near the Ross department store on NM 528 and Enchanted Hills Blvd.

Marsing reportedly stabbed him in the back in the ditch nearby. EMS saw to his injuries on scene and transported him to UNMH downtown.

Lt. Jacquelynn Reedy, of Rio Rancho Police Department, said officers were able to apprehend Marsing a short time later.

Reedy added that a K9 unit was used to safely apprehend Marsing after she failed to comply with officer commands and entered a drainage tunnel.

If convicted, Marsing could face up to three years behind bars and a $5,000 fine.
