Rio Rancho Police Department officers responded to a bomb threat that turned out to be false at the Walmart on Unser and Southern boulevards around noon Saturday, said RRPD spokesman Lt. Richard Koschade.

Shortly after 3 p.m., the location was searched and opened back up to the public, according to RRPD’s Facebook page. No device was found, Koschade said.

The case is active and investigators are asking the public to call the non-emergency number at 891-7226 or visit rrnm.gov/report with any information about the bomb threat, Koschade said.

Walmart received the threatening phone call Saturday, and then contacted RRPD, he said.

“We appreciate everyone that was there that day, including employees and management that helped keep everyone safe,” Koschade said.
