United States Rep. Melanie Stansbury will be back in Sandoval County this weekend.

Stansbury, who hosted “Coffee with your Congresswoman” in Corrales on Aug. 1,  will be the keynote speaker at the Democratic Party of Sandoval County’s “Keep Sandoval Blue Fundraiser” Sunday.

The fundraiser will run from 3-5 p.m. at the Santa Ana Hotel with donations going toward finding and promoting Democrat candidates for Sandoval County.

“We’re looking forward to hearing from Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury at the biennial Sandoval County Democratic fundraiser,” District 1 County Commissioner Katherine Bruch said. “I’m excited about our new young candidates running for county commission and the State House. This event will help to raise funds for their campaign as well as other local candidates.”

Stansbury was re-elected to serve in New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District in November. The district includes parts of Sandoval County.

“Sandoval County is the fastest-growing county in the state. The city of Rio Rancho is the third-largest city in the state,” New Mexico Rep. Kathleen Cates said. “The population of Sandoval want their families to be safe, be able to make a living wage to support their families, have accessible and quality of life public spaces, good roads, great first responders and a pride that we are a safe, secure and prosperous place for you to grow your family, move your business and invest. We will not tolerate hate and fear of people who are different than we are. We value our health care providers, first responders and educators. Sandoval County has a large percentage of Democrats that are voters, and we need to tell each other that we are here, advocating and willing to serve. Let’s make sure that Sandoval County reflects the values of its people.”
