Turquoise Desert Taproom, at 4405 Jager Way NE, is getting a new look and a new menu.

The brewpub/restaurant officially re-opened Wednesday July 20 after getting approval from inspection the day before.

The new owner, Armando Martinez, and his crew are excited with the new look and the menu.

“Now that it’s finally ours, we are very excited to open,” he said.

The bar was originally a New Mexican themed go-to for locals. It served typical New Mexican food like tacos, burritos and other fare

Now, the bar will serve everything from fish and chips, chicken with cauliflower rice, and traditional street tacos to exotic burgers. There will even be a burger with fried egg on it.

“Everything will be house made. Even the pretzels we serve will be made by my bakery,” he said.

Martinez also owns Dulce Capital bakery in Santa Fe and plans to combine the bar with the bakery. Eventually, he wants to have a bakery and coffee house attached to the bar, where they will serve brunch on weekends.

“I want it to be a different sports bar feel. It will be a real restaurant, not fast food,” Martinez said.

For the bar though, he says there will be specials like Taco Tuesday and football days. If all goes well for the restaurant, Martinez also wants to invest in a BBQ smoker to expand menu items.
