A woman died after being struck by multiple vehicles Tuesday night at the intersection of NM 528 and Southern Blvd.
Rio Rancho Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck in the roadway shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday. The woman was declared dead at the scene.
An RRPD investigation found that “the woman disregarded traffic safety signals entering the intersection while traffic was flowing and was struck by multiple vehicles,” Capt. Jacquelynn Reedy said.
The name of the deceased is being withheld until her family has been notified.
“The Rio Rancho Police Department extends our deepest condolences to all those involved in this incident,” Reedy said.
It was the second pedestrian fatality in Rio Rancho Tuesday. Just before 6 a.m., a man walking his dog was killed while walking his dog along Terraza Blvd. in the Loma Colorado neighborhood. Residents related that death to the recent removal of crosswalks in the neighborhood, though the man was in the crosswalk at Valle Alto, police said.
