Rio Rancho commuters may have to find a different way home Monday.
At about 1:45 p.m., the Albuquerque Police Department sent a notice that officers are shutting down traffic to investigate a critical injury crash involving a pedestrian near Paseo del Norte and Eagle Ranch Road NW. Shortly after 5 p.m., the department said that homicide detectives have been called to the scene to investigate as an adult male was killed in the crash.
All parties involved in the incident have been detained for questioning.
The department said the incident will affect traffic on westbound Paseo del Norte and Coors Blvd. as well as Eagle Ranch Road between Paseo del Norte and Paradise.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area for the next several hours.
