An Albuquerque teen will make his initial appearance in court Monday after stealing a Shark vacuum and Bissell Floor Cleaner from Target and selling them on Facebook on Feb. 7.

Surveillance footage showed 18-year-old Barron Harrison taking the vacuum and a Bissell Floor Cleaner — valued at a combined $627.98 — from the shelf then bypassing the cash registers without paying for them. He then left the store and placed the items inside of a gold four-door sedan, which immediately left the parking lot, according to a criminal complaint.

A Rio Rancho Police officer was initially unsuccessful in getting in touch with Harrison after the incident. However, after contacting his mother, the officer received a call from Harrison, who admitted to taking the items and selling them on Facebook Marketplace.

The complaint does not state how much he got for the vacuum and cleaner.

Harrison is charged with fourth-degree felony shoplifting.

Harrison, who was issued a summons, is scheduled to make an initial appearance at 1 p.m. Monday before Sandoval County Magistrate Judge Delilah Montano-Baca.

The maximum penalty for a fourth-degree felony is 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine.
