Learn from Lifetime Master Gardener Cathryne Richards how to create your own personal “Dream Landscape Plan” during her presentation at 2 p.m. April 23 in the Gracie Lee Community Room of the Placitas Community Library.

Richards has 16 years experience in creating landscape visions in Placitas.  She is part of the team approach to creating outdoor rooms through the ongoing program HOMEscape Solutions Design Workshop.

She is also a student of the Xeriscape Conference for over seven years. This is an international conference now called the Land and Water Summit.

Richards brings an organized approach to starting from “scratch” or adding to an existing landscape.

She is set to lead students in creating an idea file to make a landscape plan that begins with a broad overview of the project area. It includes what to consider when adding features, like sculptures, rocks and vignettes.

She will share tips on how to use xeriscape principles to select plants and create ground cover if needed. Students also learn about ‘hardscaping,’ using concrete, pavers, wood and paint.

Placitas Community Library is at 453 NM 165 in Placitas. For more information, call 505-867-3355.
