The Taxpayer Advocate Service is set to help taxpayers with tax problems they’ve been unable to resolve on their own with the IRS during Taxpayer Advocate Service Problem Solving Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 24.

The goal is to provide personalized, step-by-step guidance. If the taxpayer’s problem meets the TAS criteria, a case advocate will be assigned to work with the taxpayer.

TAS and partners will speak with people virtually by appointment. Call 505-737-6308 or 505-837-5505 for an appointment no later than Feb. 21.

TAS services are free for taxpayers experiencing financial hardship, including because of a tax problem; who have tried to resolve an IRS tax problem without success or who believe an IRS system or procedure isn’t working. Its partners in the problem-solving day are the New Mexico Legal Aid Low Income Taxpayer Clinic, Social Security Administration, New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department and Four Corners Low Income Taxpayer Clinic at San Juan College.
