Poke Serrano finally opened its doors on Dec. 27 after more than three years of work.
It took just a little longer, but The Sweet Cup, which shares a building with Poke Serrano at 3755 Southern Blvd SE, recently opened, too.
Robert Punya, owner of Poki Poki Cevicheria since its inception in May 2016 and owner of The Sweet Cup since 2018, has been working since 2020 to get his latest creation, Poke Serrano, open.
After all that, Poke Serrano opened with an elevated concept focused on Asian fusion. It offers ramen, stir fry, tacos and more. Sweet Cup is located in a separate part of the restaurant and offers self-serve frozen yogurt with toppings, pastries, scratch-made desserts, espresso, boba, cheesecakes and macaroons.
This approach aims to create a seamless and enjoyable experience for patrons, allowing them to indulge in a diverse range of culinary delights under one roof.
“Our dessert concept, that’s tied to the restaurant, but just we kind of wanted a food hall feel,” Punya said. “So it’s like, I’ll sit down at a table here. Let me get a drink. Let me get some food. Let me get some desserts.”
Punya said Sweet Cup brings an array of self-serve frozen yogurt, delectable toppings, pastries and boba. The emphasis on variety seems to be a key element of Sweet Cup’s appeal.
“We have self-serve frozen yogurt and then toppings and pastries and boba,” Punya said. “Also, the cheesecakes and the macaroons.”
