The Placitas Community Library Art Committee will celebrate the Placitas Studio Tour’s 25th anniversary with an exhibition featuring artists participating in this year’s tour.

The community is invited to preview representative works from the Mother’s Day weekend tour in the library’s Gracie Lee Community Room April 30 through May 18. The exhibit features two- and three-dimensional works in a variety of media, including steel, jewelry, glass, fiber, ceramics, wood, photography, painting, collage and mixed media.

Visitors to the exhibit can use the opportunity to help identify which studios they want to visit during the tour.

Participating artists’ studio doors will be open May 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.  Seventy-five artists in 63 studios throughout Placitas will welcome visitors from all parts of New Mexico and beyond to explore the largest tour in the history of the event.

Artists include Karl and Mary Hofmann, Lisa Chernoff, Peaches Malmaud and Dorothy Bunny Bowen, who have participated in all 25 of the Placitas Studio Tours, as well as 17 artists new to the tour.

Tour brochures will be available in the library and at all studios during the tour. People interested can also preview the artists’ pages and download the map at PlacitasStudioTour.com and on the Placitas Studio Tour Facebook page.

All works at the library are available for purchase with a percentage of sales benefiting the library.

Following this exhibition, the Gracie Lee Community Room’s exhibits will be temporarily suspended as the room will be used for early and Election Day voting. Exhibitions will resume June 20.

The library is at 453 NM 165, Placitas. Its hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday 1-4 p.m.
