University of New Mexico head softball coach Nicole Dickson and staff signed nine players to a National Letters of Intent today, Nov. 8.

Only two hail from the Land of Enchantment; Cleveland High senior infielder Mya Pacheco was one of them. Born and raised in New Mexico, during her career with the Storm she was named the District 1-5A Offensive Player of the Year in 2022, 1-5A first team All-District, 5A Metro first team and 5A All-State first team in 2022 after hitting .538 that season. In 2021, Pacheco was a part of the state and district championship team.

Pacheco plans on majoring in computer science at UNM and will be the second member in her immediate family to attend UNM, joining her mother. And she’ll be “joining” another one-time Storm infielder, UNM junior Ashley Archuleta.

“I chose UNM because it felt like home,” Pacheco said.
