The City of Rio Rancho announced the Spring Road reconstruction project will begin on June 12.

The project includes the pavement replacement of Spring Road from Unser Boulevard to Mesa Road and replacement of the waterline. Work is expected to be completed by January 2024.  While project work occurs, detours and access/lane restrictions will be in place.

The project is funded through American Rescue Plan Act funds, voter-approved G.O. Bond funds, and Utility Department funds.

The contractor’s typical hours of work will be Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The contractor may need to work outside of these typical hours and on weekends to complete some activities.

There will be multiple different traffic control setups during the project. Expect to see detours, one way closures, and intersection closures.

There will be disruptions to water service during the installation of the new waterline and water services. These disruptions will occur during non-peak hours (11:00 p.m.-4 a.m. or from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.) Those impacted by a planned shut off will be notified via a door hanger specifying the days and times of water service disruption. There is a possibility of an emergency shut off that is not anticipated, in these instances the contractor will work with City Utilities to repair and restore service as fast as possible.
