A Facebook post Monday night about a heavy police presence in Lariat Square on Southern led to speculation online about a possible shooting in the area.

It turns out, that was not the case.

Several comments on the post said someone was shot in the area. One post said a woman “was shot dead in front of Subway.”

Two local business owners in the strip mall said they checked their cameras and saw no police activity Monday night. But one other local business in Lariat Square had a broken window that appeared to be caused by a bullet.

The owners of that business came to their shop Monday night because their cameras weren’t working. As they got out of their vehicle, one of them dropped a firearm, which then discharged and sent a bullet through the window.

No injuries were reported and the window was being repaired Tuesday around noon.
