Skies Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, an Albuquerque-based skilled nursing facility affiliated with Genesis HealthCare, has announced that Vanessa

Vanessa Rodriguez
Rodriguez, a center employee, was named New Mexico Director of Nursing of the Year by the New Mexico Health Care Association.
The center is on McMahon Boulevard in northwest Albuquerque.
This Director of Nursing of the Year award is a very competitive and prestigious award. The New Mexico Health Care Association’s annual awards program is designed to recognize and honor individuals in the long-term care profession who have revealed outstanding skills, dedication, loyalty, creativity and an extraordinary commitment to teamwork in their day-to-day routine.
Rodriguez has over 10 years nursing leadership experience. She has been with Skies Nursing and Rehabilitation for three years and with Genesis HealthCare for seven years.
Previously, Rodriguez worked at University of New Mexico Hospital in the neuro-science ICU. She received her nursing degree from PIMA Medical Institute in 2009.
As director of nursing, it’s her priority that Skies focuses on the vitality of the person — how and where the center can make a difference in the overall well-being and healthy outlook of everyone entrusted to the center’s care.
“We couldn’t be happier for Vanessa,” said Skies Nursing and Rehabilitation Executive Director Melissa Martinez.
“Vanessa goes above and beyond for her patients and residents, particularly throughout the pandemic. She also went to another facility for a few weeks towards the beginning of the pandemic to work as their director of nursing during a COVID outbreak. She was selected due to her skills, consistency, approach and determination. We are truly blessed to have such a caring and experienced nurse executive on our team.”
