The Pueblo of Santa Ana — Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel is teaming up with Unicor LLC to host its fall shredding event on Saturday, Aug. 20, between 9 a.m. and noon.
The event is free and open to all members of the community.
“Our paper shredding events are held semi-annually and are easily accessible so that the people of our community have the opportunity to frequently and securely dispose of their documents in a safe, environmentally friendly way,” said Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel Director of Marketing Tammy Neil. “Now more than ever, it’s extremely important to combat identity theft and prevent personal information from falling into the wrong hands.”
Guests are invited to bring paper documents to the event, where they will be securely destroyed and recycled. Unicor LLC will be accepting paper documents for destruction, and guests can each bring a maximum of two cardboard boxes or one standard trash bag of paper to the event. Bindings, large plastic or metal clips, and other paraphernalia should be removed.
According to the 2022 Identity Fraud Study by Javelin Strategy & Research, more and more people are personally paying out of pocket for fraud, and identity fraud losses in 2021 reached a total of $52 billion and affected 42 million U.S. consumers.
