David Perkins and Rhana Vickers moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Rio Rancho recently on the advice of Perkins’ cousin, Alex. And that has been good news for fans of fast service, quality coffee and tasty pastries.
Perkins and Vickers opened New Mexico’s first Scooter’s Coffee last year in Bernalillo and celebrated the grand opening of their second store on Sept. 1 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The new store is located at 2200 Southern Blvd. in Rio Rancho, just east of Unser, and offers the same quality treats, specialty drinks and quick service that Scooter’s is known for.
“There’s a lot of excitement,” Perkins said. “There’s a lot of community here that seems to be really supportive. We’re excited.”
More than two dozen friends, family and community leaders showed up to the ceremony, including Sandoval County Commissioner Jay Block and Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce President Jerry Schalow.
“We’re so excited to have you moved from Oklahoma to beautiful New Mexico to be a part of our community,” Block said. “And we look forward to having your second store here in Rio Rancho and Sandoval County. I’m wishing you lots of success, and I’ll be sure to be stop by for a coffee.”
Scooter’s Coffee is a drive-thru franchise that has been serving world-class coffee for 25 years and has nearly 650 locations in 29 states across the nation.
The newest store on Southern is also drive-thru only.
“We love the warm and welcoming people of Rio Rancho, and we hope they come to love Scooter’s Coffee as much as we do,” Vickers said. “It’s our second store, and it’s the first Scooter’s Coffee in Rio Rancho. We’re excited to meet you, so come see us.”
