Editor:

Not everyone knows school board candidate Amanda Galbraith as well as I do, so I’d like to tell you why I’m voting for her.

I’ve known Amanda, and her family, for many years.

She is the only candidate in District 2 who is a life-long resident of Rio Rancho. She graduated from Rio Rancho High School, Class of 2000, and she knows what our community and our schools are all about.

As an avid triathlete, she learned that she also loved organizing and coordinating the many aspects of these races, and so became a sports director and community event planner.

As a mom, she has been an active volunteer in her four children’s classrooms and with their school activities for years. As a youth group leader, she understands the concerns of today’s teens.

As an independent thinker, she will bring a fresh perspective to the school board, and her bachelor’s degree in Public Health has given her experience in developing evidence-based youth programs.

Amanda is a thoughtful, high-energy, involved parent, and she will serve our children and the school district with integrity and with values that reflect our community — I wholeheartedly endorse her.

I’m going to vote for Amanda Galbraith, and I hope that you do, too.

Sincerely,

Carl D. Harper

Former president, RRPS Board of Education
