The Sandoval County Detention Center announced Friday that retired K-9 Officer Candace died. Candace was a seven-year veteran of Sandoval County, serving at the Sheriff’s Office and the Detention Center.
A statement from the county said, “Candace is remembered for her intelligence, , commitment to the job, and personality. She is also remembered for her numerous contributions to public safety made while performing her duties.”
The county also announced that K-9 Officer Rubble is now on active duty. Rubble joined the detention center in the latter half of 2022 and is now a certified dual-purpose K-9 after completing his training.
“K-9 officers are an integral component of Public Safety,” the statement said. “These dogs work diligently with their handlers to protect citizens in various environments such as the Sandoval County Detention Center.”
