Sen. Martin Heinrich and Santa Ana Pueblo leaders Friday (Oct. 7) will make an important business announcement.

The Pueblo, according to a press release from Heinrich’s office, will announce a new electric vehicle partnership.

The partnership will be headed by Tamaya Ventures, a Santa Ana Pueblo-owned company.

Key attendees will include Pueblo of Santa Ana Tribal leaders, national, state and local elected officials and business leaders.

Rumor has it that the new company could be Tesla. Tesla already has a partnership with Nambe Pueblo in Santa Fe, so if they partnered with Santa Ana Pueblo it wouldn’t be a huge surprise. In Nambe, Tesla built a center on Pueblo land to avoid state car laws — NM has banned Tesla from offering sales or repairs without going through a dealership.

Tesla Inc. and the Nambe Pueblo reconfigured the former Nambé Falls Casino, about 13 miles north of Santa Fe, into a Tesla sales, service and delivery center.

But there are some other EV possibilities to consider.

The Rio Rancho Observer will be covering this announcement tomorrow at 9 a.m.
