SANTA FE – Sandoval County received the Rising Star Award from the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration’s Local Government Division (LGD) during its annual budget conference last month.

The Rising Star Award recognizes the local governments that demonstrated progress in budget management standards, improved quality of budgets, and financial reporting. It also recognizes significant strides in overcoming budget and financial challenges.

The City of Artesia and the South Central Regional Transit District also received the Rising Star Award.

“Congratulations to all the 2022 local government budget award winners. Your commitment to budget and financial excellence continues to benefit your local communities in countless ways,” said DFA Secretary Debbie Romero.

The conference provided budget and finance-related training to local governments, finance staff, and officials from 33 counties, 106 municipalities, and over 300 special districts throughout the state.

Also at the conference, Lincoln County, the Village of Reserve and the Upper Rio Grande Watershed District received the LGD Director’s Award, which recognizes governments that exhibited high-performing standards, outstanding budgets, and financial reporting, setting a standard for their peers.
