Rio Rancho Public Schools announced recently that the 15th annual RRPS Pow Wow is scheduled for April 22 at Cleveland High School.

The event is free and open to the public as the district celebrates Native American heritage and culture with a full day of singing, dancing and food.

  • Arena director: Phillip Moosomin, Cree/Santo Domingo
  • Head man: Russell Martin, Diné
  • Head lady: Helena Tsosie, Diné
  • Head boy: Tristan Tenorio, Kewa/Navajo
  • Head girl: Dyanni Aguilar, Kewa/Hopi, Mescalero Apache
  • Gourd dancer: Milton Yazzie, Diné
  • Northern Host Drum: Iron Star
  • Southern Host Drum: Blue Cloud Singers

The Pow Wow runs from noon to 8 p.m. with guard session from noon to 3 p.m., grand entry at 4 p.m. and closing at 8 p.m.
