Two men have been arrested and booked after the Rio Rancho Police Department responded to a shooting call with a SWAT team Monday night.

After receiving the report of a person with a gunshot wound, the Rio Rancho Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Peppoli Loop.

“Due to the nature of the call, SWAT responded in order to safely continue the investigation,” said Lt. Jacquelynn Reedy, RRPD spokeswoman.

Two individuals have been charged as a result of the investigation. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening. injuries.

Jeffery Smith was arrested and booked for false imprisonment, robbery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Reedy said.

Brandon Whitmore was arrested and booked for false imprisonment and robbery.
