Dunkin’ Donuts is coming to Rio Rancho on NM 528 near Barbara Loop, said Mayor Gregg Hull.

“We are excited to welcome them to Rio Rancho,” Hull said.

This Dunkin’ will have no Baskin Robin component, he said. The company will construct a new building for the shop.

Founder William Rosenberg opened his first Dunkin’ Donuts in 1950 as a coffee and baked-goods shop in Massachusetts.

“The brand still uses the original proprietary coffee blend recipe established by its founder and serves approximately 2 billion cups of hot and iced coffee every year around the world, with standards for coffee excellence that are among the best in the industry,” according to the Dunkin’ Donuts website.

The franchise has over 12,400 restaurants in 46 countries, according to its website.

Due to the pandemic, Dunkin’ Donuts is closing about 800 U.S. locations, about 8 percent of stores in the nation, according to CNN. The company is opening several hundred new stores, too.

Dunkin’ spokespeople didn’t respond to requests for information by press time.
