Get ready to take a dip into a city outdoor pool.  

Outdoor pools will open to the public on May 28, according to a city news release.  

Pool locations and hours of operation are:   

Haynes Community Center Pool, 2006 Grande Blvd.:

  • Recreation swim: Daily from noon to 6 p.m., May 28 – Aug. 7  
  • Recreation and lap swim: Noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays only, Aug. 16 – Sept. 5  
  • Lap swim: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday  
  • Water aerobics: 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday 

Cabezon Recreation Center Pool, 2307 Cabezon Blvd.:

  • Recreation swim: Daily from noon to 6 p.m., May 28 – Aug. 7  
  • Family night swim: Fridays from 6:30-8:30 p.m.   

Rainbow Pool, 301 Southern Blvd.:

  • This will open mid-summer due to repairs and maintenance. 

The daily fee for any of the outdoor pools is $4 for people ages 13 to 54, and $3 for children ages 2 to 12 and adults 55 or older.

Rio Rancho Aquatic Center  

If people want another option to cool off this summer, they can go to the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center, at 745 Loma Colorado Blvd.  

The aquatic center is open year-round and will have extended summer operating hours May 31 through Aug. 6.  

Summer hours are:  

Recreation Swim (all ages)   

  • Noon to 5 p.m.: Wednesday-Thursday 
  • Noon to 7 p.m.: Friday 
  • Noon to 6 p.m.: Saturday and Sunday 

Lap Swim (adults only)   

  • 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Monday – Thursday 
  • 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Friday 
  • Noon to 6 p.m.: Saturday 
  • Number of available lanes varies throughout the day  
  • Two lap lanes available, 5-7 p.m. Monday-Friday   

The facility will close on May 30 for Memorial Day, June 19-20 for Juneteenth, July 4-5 for Independence Day, and Aug. 8-12 for maintenance.  

The aquatic center does not open until 2 p.m. on the first Monday of each month to allow for regular maintenance.
