A man wanted in Texas for possession of “dangerous drugs” was arrested by the Rio Rancho Police Department July 8.

The man, Cody Talbert, 22, of Rio Rancho, was wanted in Fort Worth, Texas.

Talbert was released back to Tarrant County where he will face trial, according to the complaint.

Talbert relinquished his right to an extradition hearing. This means he will be returned to Texas without being tried in New Mexico.

In Texas those charged with possession of a controlled substance can face up to 10 years in prison. Fugitives can face an additional three to five years.

In New Mexico, the sentence for possession is up to three years maximum. Fugitives can face up to five years.
