A Rio Rancho man reportedly tried to hit two nurses.
On April 26, Rio Rancho Police Department was dispatched to Genesis HealthCare at 4210 Sabana Grande to do a welfare check.
Leon Forgette, 69, called the police to report being mistreated by nurses at the facility. He said they had not checked in on him for over five hours, and they were allegedly not cleaning him properly.
The nurses told the officers they were helping clean Forgette when he became agitated with them. As they tried to move him into a different position, he allegedly “balled his fist and swung it” toward the nurses, who stepped away to protect themselves, according to a criminal complaint.
Forgette told officers he did not hit anyone, but tried shoving the nurses away because he was angry with them due to being annoyed over their treatment of him.
The complaint states there was no indication of mistreatment by the nurses.
Officers gave Forgette a summons.
An arraignment has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. June 16.
Forgette is being accused of two counts of alleged assault upon a health care worker (attempted battery), a misdemeanor.
If he is found guilty, Forgette could get up to two years in prison and pay a $2,000 fine.
