Rio Rancho’s comprehensive high schools’ marching bands scored in the top of their classes at the New Mexico Pageant of Bands on Oct. 16 at Rio Rancho High School.
Bands were classified by their size, not by school enrollment, so RRHS was listed as 4A and Cleveland High School was listed as 5A.
RRHS won first place in 4A (76-100 members), as well as the People’s Choice, Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion and Drum Major awards. CHS won first place in 5A (more than 100 members), People’s Choice, Brass and Colorguard.
The Pageant of the Bands included four 4A entries and there 5A entries this year. The 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19.
