Holocaust survivors will participate Sunday in an annual event that commemorates the 6 million Jews who perished at the hands of the Nazis during the Holocaust.
The Yom HaShoah observance will begin at 2 p.m. in the Jewish Community Center of Greater Albuquerque, 5520 Wyoming Blvd NE. Doors open at 1:15 p.m.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling (505) 418-4467.
In addition to the remembrance ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity to meet Hannah Kozak, a California filmmaker/photographer, and view “My Father’s Ghost,” her documentary and photography exhibit retracing her father’s experiences in forced labor camps from 1943 until liberation in 1945. The black-and-white exhibit, photographed entirely on film, will remain on display until May 15.
Sunday’s event along with the photo exhibit is co-sponsored by the New Mexico Holocaust Museum and Gellert Center for Education, the Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Federation of New Mexico and the Jewish Care Program.
