The city of Rio Rancho kicked off its reconstruction project on 19th Avenue Monday.
Several roads in the area west of 528 to Golf Course were closed as workers from Albuquerque Asphalt began Phase 1 of the project, which is for full roadway reconstruction with pond, ADA curb ramps, utility adjustments and pedestrian push button improvements.
The $ 1,730,039.93 project is expected to be completed in May.
Project work sequence
Sequence 1: January to February: concrete work.
Sequence 2: January to March: pond reclamation.
Sequence 3: February to May: roadway rehabilitation.
One-way traffic with posted detours will be in place at times during the project.
