Scoring their first touchdown less than a minute into their quarterfinal game Friday night vs. Rio Rancho, the No, 3 Centennial Hawks went on to end the Rams’ season, 41-14.

Noah Nelson threw a 22-yard TD pass to help the Rams (7-5) recover from an early 21-0 deficit. But RRHS would score only one more TD the rest of the way.

Centennial (9-1) will meet No.2 La Cueva (10-1) in a 6A semifinal; No.1 Cleveland faces No. 5 Volcano Vista in the other 6A semifinal next weekend.

The Bears beat Centennial 28-21 at Wilson Stadium on Sept. 2, one week after the Storm handed La Cueva its only loss – and that came one week after Centennial eked out a 38-35 victory at Cleveland in the opener for both teams.
