Rainbow Pool and Skatepark, a common ground for local skateboarders and swimmers, was vandalized with graffiti overnight from Feb. 27-28.

Dan Montoya, who lives nearby and walks his dog there, says “It happens about every few months but this is the worst I’ve ever seen. It’s everywhere!”

The skate park took the bulk of the graffiti hit as most of the structures were covered in black or red paint.

“They just finished painting over the Observation building and the swimming pool storage about two weeks ago from another graffiti incident,” Montoya said.

He also claims that the area has had an uptick in kids riding their dirt bikes near the park. He worries that small children or even families could get hurt by the motorists.

He says security cameras might not be a bad idea but that some neighbors might feel “like big brother is watching.”

According to Deputy City Manager Peter Wells, the graffiti will be cleaned up by city staff as soon as possible.
