As the heat wave in New Mexico continues, PNM is taking action to help its customers deal with record-setting electricity use.
PNM has hit two record-high system peaks in the past month. PNM anticipates its customers will continue to use even more electricity, which correlates to increased electricity bills. PNM is introducing the Summer Heat Bill Help Fund to help customers deal with surging bills that go along with high temperatures.
PNM Resources, a parent company of PNM, has allocated $250,000 to the Summer Heat Bill Help Fund to help customers with high energy bills. The program allows flexibility to help more income-verified customers struggling to pay their bills. Customers can apply for assistance through Sept. 30 at PNM.com/Help.
An additional $250,000 has been added to the PNM Good Neighbor Fund paid by PNM Resources to help customers with bill assistance. The Good Neighbor Fund is funded by PNM Resources, employees and customers. PNM Resources will match contributions made by PNM customers to offer even more assistance to those who need it.
Customers who don’t qualify for those income-based plans can still get help through PNM’s Budget Billing and More Time to Pay programs. Budget Billing allows for more predictable energy bills by balancing seasonal highs and lows, taking the guesswork out of each monthly bill. Once signed up, customers will pay a similar amount each month, making budgeting and planning easier. PNM offers payment extension at PNM.com/more-time-to-pay.
