With a plentiful amount of people in collapsible chairs and on picnic blankets watching, the New Mexico Philharmonic performed at Campus Park by City Hall on Sunday, Sept. 3.
They performed pieces like Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5,” John Williams’ “ET” theme and Danny Elfman’s “Spiderman” theme. There were also some more classical pieces like William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream: The Wedding March.”
The free event attracted several people who were celebrating Labor Day weekend. They had access to the usual food trucks, but cotton candy and ice cream were particularly popular.
The Philharmonic’s next performance is at Popejoy Hall at University of New Mexico campus Friday, Sept. 15, through Sunday, Sept. 17. That concert will feature music from the “Harry Potter” movies.
While it was not clear when the Philharmonic would be back to perform at Campus Park, Music Director Roberto Minczuk said they would like to return.
