Artist Barbershop held its third annual Show & Shine event Sunday to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, which provides family housing and meals.

Martin Patterson opened Artist Barbershop in 2021 with a goal of doing more than just keeping people in Rio Rancho looking good. He also wanted to do good for the community.

The Show & Shine event is a car show that fills the parking lot at Lariat Square on Southern Blvd. and helps people in Rio Rancho. All proceeds and donations are going to Ronald McDonald House. DJ Sider performed, and there were food trucks,  jumpers and raffles. Patterson declined to say how much money was raised but said “there was a great turnout.”

“Artist Barbershop wants to be an avenue for local nonprofits to get the recognition and help they deserve,” Patterson said Sunday after the show. “We do a car show every year to benefit a nonprofit. We’ve been doing it for two years already. Just cars come out and people can give a donation, whatever they may want to do, and everything goes to the nonprofit.”

Patterson held the first Show & Shine in October 2021 to celebrate the grand opening of Artist in August. That event had music, food and cars with all of Artist’s sales that day being donated to Haven House, the only domestic violence shelter for Sandoval County.

For the second Show & Shine last July, Artist helped more than 100 kids with free school supplies and gave away tuition to music school.
