The Resource Center for Victims of Violent Death hosted a fund-raising kickball tournament Saturday at the Rio Rancho Sports Complex.

The fields had eight teams for the single-elimination tournament.

Teams brought a few fans, some sitting around the fields under umbrellas and covered seating areas for shade under a bright sun and 90-degree day.

“They sure are taking it seriously,” said one lady as she walked by the fields.

Indeed they did.

There were plenty of shouts and encouragement from the teams as players got on base or scored. There was even an argument over whether a player was safe or out.

For sure, they all had a lot of fun for a great cause.
