In the windbag world of local politics, one voice refreshes the atmosphere in Rio Rancho.
The Observer reported (10/5/23) on a Rio Rancho City Council debate centered on local streets and whose streets get priority for repairs.
Commenting on the debate, City Councilor Jim Owen admonished the debaters: “Grow up. You have a great place [Rio Rancho] … Let’s act like it instead of being like little pouty children.”
During my 2014-18 city council term, Councilor Owen’s no-nonsense comments often guided my vote. The basis of his council terms has always been public service, not the ego stoking many others seek from holding public office.
May he serve long and well.
