The growing city of Rio Rancho is poised for business growth in retail and hospitality.

There are a number of projects that are getting off the ground and will open in 2022 and 2023.

Retail and restaurants are in rebound and growth mode after being hit hard during the pandemic. Rio Rancho, Corrales and Bernalillo with a combined population of over 130,000 residents has grabbed the attention of local and national businesses alike.

Businesses are choosing the Rio Rancho area for a number of reasons including a growing population and low crime. The growing population has caught many national businesses and franchises by surprise, so they are taking a closer look at expanding their footprint.

Local business owners have also identified this area for expansion with the addition of Turtle Mountain North, Rise + Roast, Defined Fitness and Dulce River Bakery & Taproom.

Dulce River will be a new and expanded business in Rio Rancho that will offer a brew concept. It will have a tap room with food, and next door they will offer baked goods that they have from Dulce Capital in Santa Fe along with locally made candy and chocolates.

“We are residents of Enchanted Hills and we have looked at expanding into Rio Rancho for a couple years. Our Dulce River location will have a tap room serving local beers and made from scratch food, while also being the first bakery and chocolate candy maker in Enchanted Hills.” said owner Armando Martinez.

These retail expansions have led to many residents to ask what projects are coming to our area, so the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce has put together a list of expected additions in 2022 and 2023.  The pace of additions to the area continues to gain momentum, so stay tuned for more announcements coming soon.
