The Rio Rancho Astronomical Society will open the Rainbow Park Observatory (behind Rainbow Pool) in Rio Rancho for the Oct. 14 annular eclipse.
Telescopes equipped with solar filter for safe observation of the eclipse will be available for public viewing.
A limited quantity of certified eclipse glasses will be for sale that day on a first-come, first-served basis. “Do not attempt to observe the eclipse without proper eye protection. Unprotected observation will result in permanent eye damage and vision loss,” the Astronomical Society website reads.
The observatory will open to the public at 8:30 a.m.
