Valla Ray Merrell, at 70 years old, passed away in Rio Rancho on the morning of November 25, 2021.

Born in El Paso to Charlie and Anna May Merrell, she was the oldest of their three children. Janet and David were her beloved siblings.

Valla came to live in New Mexico from Texas nearly 60 years ago, and while at Sandia High School, she met Rob Mohr, whom she married. They had two children, Cassondra and Daniel.

Shortly after, however, Valla was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

She was proud of her two grandchildren, Sonja and Jason (Ariz.). She also loved the rain, hot-air balloons and the beauty of nature. Her laughter and silliness will be missed.

She also leaves behind her boyfriend, Doug, with whom she found laughter and happiness.

She had a zest for life and a wild imagination, and very much did things how she wanted.

Her stubbornness was both infuriating and inspiring.

She died peacefully in her home due to complications of MS.
