New Mexico’s COVID-19 test positivity rate continues to steadily decrease, as the state Department of Health reported a 8.7 percent rate on Thursday.

Despite another slight uptick in cases with 628 on Thursday, the latest test positivity rate is down 0.8 percent from Wednesday.

There were 54 new COVID-19 cases in Sandoval County, and ZIP code 87124 (southern Rio Rancho) had the state’s second-highest case count by ZIP code, with 25.

A male in his 60s from Sandoval County was among 22 COVID-related deaths the state reported on Thursday.

As of Thursday, 339 people are hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19.
