New Mexico’s COVID-19 test positivity rate continues to plummet, as does the number of new daily cases.

The state Department of Health reported just 177 new cases on Tuesday, with a test positivity rate of 5.2 percent — down 0.4 percent from Monday.

Sandoval County reported eight new cases Tuesday. ZIP code 87124 (southern Rio Rancho) was tied for the eighth-highest case count by ZIP code, with four.

However, a Sandoval County female in her 70s was among 22 new COVID-19 deaths reported Tuesday. That person had underlying conditions.

As of Tuesday, 181 people are hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19.

The latest COVID-19 vaccination numbers

As of Tuesday, 83.3 percent of Sandoval County adults have completed their primary vaccination series.

Statewide, 78.2 percent of adults completed their primary vaccination series, and 44.9 percent of New Mexico adults received a booster dose.

For children ages 12 to 17, 61.3 percent completed their primary vaccination series. For kids ages five to 11, 30.1 percent completed their primary vaccination series.
