New Mexico reached a grim milestone of more than 500,000 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started, despite the recent downward trend.
According to a press release from the New Mexico Department of Health, the state added 1,127 new cases on Friday — reaching a total of 500,516 cases. The state also added 29 COVID-19 deaths on Friday.
Sandoval County added 109 new cases and three new deaths on Friday. ZIP code 87124, which is Rio Rancho, added 35 new cases on Friday.
As of Friday, 498 people are hospitalized in New Mexico with COVID-19.
