ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico Department of Transportation will hold a live virtual public meeting about the NM 313 bridge replacement project in Algodones.
The meeting will be held June 30, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the Zoom virtual meeting platform. The meeting link is provided below.
At the meeting, the project team will present information about project schedule, impacts to traffic, and results of an environmental evaluation. Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the project.
The project will replace the Algodones Bridge on NM 313 that crosses Las Huertas Creek, 4.7 miles north of US Highway 550, near Algodones village in Sandoval County. The project will also improve the approaches to the bridge on the north and south side of the bridge. Construction activities will take place between NM 313 mileposts 12.5 and 13.5.
“This project will improve safety on the vital roadway link that serves Algodones, San Felipe Pueblo and other communities in this part of Sandoval County,” said Justin Gibson, NMDOT District 3 District Engineer.
The current bridge is a timber bridge structure that was built in 1975. The bridge is nearing the end of its life, does not meet current design standards and needs to be replaced.
Construction would require either a full closure of NM 313 or one-lane traffic for the duration of construction. A full closure for 80-140 days is recommended to increase productivity, reduce project duration, increase safety, and would have the potential for cost savings.
