New Mexico added 977 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, making it the third time in the last four days the state recorded fewer than 1,000 cases.
According to a press release from the state Department of Health, New Mexico’s test positivity rate for Friday was 12.6 percent — down 0.7 percent from Thursday.
Sandoval County added 58 new cases on Friday, but ZIP code 87124 (Rio Rancho) was not among the 10 highest ZIP codes statewide for new cases.
Statewide, there were 29 new deaths reported on Friday. A male in his 50s from Sandoval County was one of seven deaths that happened more than a month ago, but was reported Friday as COVID-related.
As of Friday, 402 people are hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. The total number of statewide cases went up to 507,323 on Friday.
Latest COVID vaccination numbers
As of Friday, 77.8 percent of New Mexico adults have completed their vaccination series, and 43.7 percent of adults statewide have received a booster dose.
As of Friday, 60.6 percent of children ages 12 to 17 have completed their vaccination series, while 28.1 percent of kids ages five to 11 have completed their vaccination series.
The state’s indoor mask mandate was lifted on Thursday.
