New COVID-19 case counts in the state dipped below 400 Friday for the first time in months.

According to the New Mexico Department of Health, 381 new COVID cases and 16 additional COVID-related deaths were recorded that day. The seven-day positivity rate was 6.5 percent, a few tenths of a percent lower than Thursday.

Friday, 197 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in New Mexico, the first dip below 200 hospitalizations since last fall. Also, NMDOH had designated 472,426 COVID-19 cases as having recovered by Friday.

  • A female in her 70s from Curry County. The individual was hospitalized.
  • A male in his 70s from Curry County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 50s from Quay County. The individual was hospitalized.
  • A male in his 80s from Torrance County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 70s from Valencia County. The individual had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 90s from Valencia County. The individual was hospitalized.
