RIO RANCHO — Drive through a Mile of Terror at Rio Rancho Events Center, formerly known as Santa Ana Star Center, in New Mexico’s first drive-thru haunted house, which opened Friday.
With a pandemic preventing Dragon’s House of Horror from building a traditional haunted house, the company found a new way to make people scream. For $40 a vehicle, Bo Bo the Butcher Clown can creep close to cars and say hi. The Mile of Terror is broken into sections like Clown Town, where Bo Bo lives, and Granny’s House.
House of Horror spokeswoman Nichole Harwood said every precaution is being taken for health and safety, including spacing vehicle far enough apart to prevent rear-end crashes. Characters are not allowed to touch vehicles, and cars will follow a lit pathway through the Mile of Terror, she said.
Every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight till Oct. 31, people can visit Bo Bo and Granny. Tickets are available at bit.ly/MileofTerror.
