A wedding can mean a lot of things or nothing all at the same time.
In my college sociology class I learned how social status can influence how a couple does a wedding.
Sociologically speaking, if a couple feels the need to have a big wedding with the big ring, big dress, big cake, etc., they are trying to compensate for the relationship. In class, my teacher said this is because more often than not people get married just for the party.
A lot of my classmates got angry. I suspect because some of them were already married and had the big wedding.
Here’s the kicker, though: People who get married just for the party aren’t thinking about the actual marriage, so most of the time they end up getting divorced.
Personally, marriage is more than just a day with cake and music. Love is more than just one day.
It takes work and compromise. More importantly, it involves communication.
