Two men on probation are facing additional charges related to guns and drugs.

At 9:23 a.m. April 7, Probation and Parole in Rio Rancho contacted the Rio Rancho Police Department to take possession of two firearms and various controlled substances that were found on Seth Adams, who was on probation for a previous larceny charge. He was arrested and is accused buying and selling drugs via cellphone.

When officers arrived,  the Probation and Parole supervisor said that Adams was checking in with his Probation and Parole officer. When they searched his phone, they found a text sent to Erik Marler, talking about buying narcotics.

Marler was on felony probation for previous trafficking charges. Probation and Parole went to Marler’s house around 1:30 p.m. to search for possible narcotic activities. Upon searching the house, they found a black gun case lying next to his bed. Inside the gun bag were two shotguns and shotgun ammunition. One of the shotguns was a .410 GA, and the other was a 20 GA.

Marler’s phone was also searched, and they found texts talking about shooting someone.

Officers also found a bottle of Promethazine with the name scratched off. They recovered a small yellow New Mexico Zia bag with 37 Buprenorphine and Naloxone Sublingual films. There was also a bag with six unused needles.

Marler was summoned for two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

If convicted Marler and Adams could face a longer probation period adding as much as five years.
