A Los Alamos man died after a head-on car crash Nov. 14 near San Ysidro, according to a New Mexico State Police press release.
About 8 a.m., State Police responded to the two-vehicle collision on US 550 near mile post 22 in Sandoval County.
The initial investigation indicates that a 2018 Kia driven by a 26-year-old Jemez Pueblo man was traveling north on US 550 when, for reasons still under investigation Monday, he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2016 Subaru occupied by driver Cody Muchmore, 27, and his passenger, a 28-year-old female, both Los Alamos residents, according to the release.
Muchmore suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
His passenger and the driver of the Kia were transported to the hospital for their injuries, according to the release.
The driver of the Kia is facing charges stemming from the crash, according to the release. His name will not be released until he is formally charged.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Police, including the agency’s Crash Reconstruction Unit.
